Hannover Hbf

Hannover is one of the key hubs in Germany’s rail network. The high-speed line from Hannover’s main train station to Würzburg features the longest specifically built high-speed track for Intercity-Express trains in Germany.

This 327-kilometer long line is double-tracked and electrified, with a maximum permitted speed for passenger services of 280 km/h.

The line passes through several cities and rural areas, and is part of Europe’s extensive transport network. It is designed to handle high speeds and heavy traffic, accommodating around 110 long-distance trains daily.

Hannover has both Stadtbahn and S-Bahn systems.

Stadtbahn is the main public transportation system in Hannover, combining features of both metro and tram services. It covers a vast network within the city and its surroundings.

S-Bahn, on the other hand, provides connections from downtown Hannover to surrounding areas and neighboring towns. The S-Bahn system is particularly useful for longer journeys, complementing the Stadtbahn system.
