Mannheim is a town in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, on the river Rhine. At Mannheim, the river Neckar flows into the Rhine. The inner city is between these two rivers.
It is one of the largest cities in the region and has about 300,000 inhabitants. Mannheim is especially known for its Baroque architecture, as much of the city centre is built in this style. The city is also an important cultural centre, where the Mannheim Opera House is located, for example. Mannheim is also an important business centre. It is known for its engineering university, Mannheim Business School and national major technology center. The city is also well connected, with one of Germany’s largest train stations and airports nearby.
