The study aims to analyze the current network and the potential need for new rail connections from Finland to Sweden. These connections would be built to the European gauge.
The EU's new TEN-T regulation sets rules for studying and planning European gauge lines, which are 1435 mm. It also looks at how to promote these lines in countries with different track gauges. Finland uses a track gauge of 1524 mm.
The study is expected to be completed by the end of August 2025.
